Is Smoov really free?
Yes. The free tier lets you add up to 4 subjects, get 2 optimised schedules, and use 3 preferences - no signup or credit card required. Premium unlocks more subjects, schedules, all 8 preferences with weights, full preference rankings with frequency bars, calendar export, and SmoovSync.
Does Smoov store my data?
Your timetable data never leaves your browser. Everything is stored in localStorage and processed client-side. The only server-side features are SmoovSync (room management) and Stripe billing - neither touches your schedule data.
Which universities does Smoov support?
Smoov works with any university. You can manually enter classes from any institution. There is also a one-click import for Allocate+ (UTS, USYD and ANU supported) - just paste your JSON and go.
How does the solver work?
Smoov uses a backtracking algorithm with MRV (Minimum Remaining Values) heuristic and forward checking to efficiently explore possible schedules. Results are scored against your preferences and ranked using Maximal Marginal Relevance for diversity.
What is SmoovSync?
SmoovSync lets you and your friends share a room code, upload your top schedules, and find the combination that maximises shared free blocks, lunch times, and days off. It is a Premium feature.
Can I export my schedule to my calendar?
Premium users can export to ICS (works with Apple Calendar, Outlook, and others) or add events directly to Google Calendar - no API keys or OAuth required.
